Many of you know Penkhull Players as the community drama group that has been bringing much-loved shows and pantomimes to our village since 2009.

​

Our journey began in 2008/2009, when Rev Sandy Dutton and Mike Whittaker, with the support of St Thomas’ Church, Penkhull, launched our very first production — Cinderella. What started as a single show quickly became something much more: a space where people could come together, build confidence, form lasting friendships, and feel a true sense of belonging.

Over the years, Penkhull Players has grown into a vibrant and welcoming community, with members involved both on and off stage — performing, directing, writing, and supporting productions. At the heart of everything we do is a belief in the power of theatre to connect people, reduce social isolation, and support positive mental wellbeing.

Today, our work goes beyond performances. We create opportunities for people of all ages to explore creativity, develop confidence, and be part of something meaningful through regular productions, pantomimes, and community-led projects.

We are now excited to be taking the next step in our journey as Thrive Together Theatre, a Community Interest Company (CIC). This allows us to expand what we offer, access funding, and continue breaking down barriers so that everyone can take part, regardless of experience or financial background.
